THE V-ROYS JUST ADD ICE - Discovered by recently revitalised country rocker Steve Earle, The V-Roys supported their mentor on his last UK visit, and play a blend of precision-tooled power pop and new country. Frontman Scott Miller apes the stars of the Grand Ole Opry on several man-sized weepies, but there's a quirkily retro feel to "Guess I Know I'm Right" and "What She's Found" that's more evocative of the mid-'8Os garage vibe of The Replacements than the steam-cleaned Stetsons of modern day Nashville.
